CHILDREN
.رسولُ اللهِِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ) : أحِبُّوا الصِّبْيانَ وَارْحَمُوهُم
“Love your children, and be kind and merciful to them.”
Prophet Muhammad (s)
(Makarim al-Akhlaq)
Every year during the days of aza - mourning for Imam Hussain (a), we shed tears for the innocent cheeks that kept on changing their color from Karbala to Syria, we cry for the children who were brutally tortured and killed. We mourn for the littles ones who were heartbroken and scared. Our hearts tremble just by hearing the loss of the household of the Prophet (s).
But one, if ever observes us, would be amazed by the hypocrisy of ours. We treat our children just like the people of Yazid, right after cursing them and lamenting for those oppressed flowers. We weep for the little soldiers of Imam Husain (a), besides the young army of Imam e Zamana (a) weep because of us. This pattern is beyond one’s intellect!
Imam Sajjad (a) said: “And the right of your child is that you should know that he is from you and he will be ascribed to you in this world due to both his good deeds and his evil deeds. And you are responsible for what has been entrusted to you in teaching him good conduct, and guiding him toward his Lord, and helping him to obey Him on your behalf and for himself. Then you will be rewarded for so doing, and you will be punished.
Then regarding his affairs, act like one who will be proud of bringing him up in this world, and one who is excused by his Lord for what is between you and him for taking good care of him, and the good results you achieved. And there is no power but in God.” [Risalatul Huquq, Right n. 24: The Right of the Child]
Prophet (s) said: “Kiss your children. There is an elevation in your rank in Paradise as a reward for each kiss. Each raise in rank is as much as five hundred years.” [Makarim al-Akhlaq, p.220]
Imam Ali (a) said: “Kissing the child is mercy.” [Makarim al-Akhlaq, p.220]
Prophet (s): “Love your children, and be kind and merciful to them. Fulfill your promises made to them since children consider you to be the one who provides for their sustenance.” [Makarim al-Akhlaq, p.219.]
In simple words, either we stop remembering Imam
Husain (a), or we start following him.
