SMART ENOUGH?

.الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): الأدبُ في الإنسانِ كشَجَرةٍ أصلُها العقلُ
“Good manners in man resemble a tree whose root is the mind.”
Imam Ali (a)
(Ibn Abi Al Hadid)

Ethics have always been linked with intellect. Possessing good moral values is an indication of having a great mind. History is littered with examples of brilliant scientists, mathematicians, artists, and musicians who inflicted deep misery on those whose chauvinist or racist beliefs would shock us today. In the Hebrew Bible, for example, “the fool” is a moral category more than an intellectual one.

Imam Ali (a) said, ‘Everything needs the mind, and the mind needs good manners.’[Ghurar al-Hikam, no. 6911]
Good moral virtues are water to the tree of wisdom, which means they’re directly proportional to each other. One surely has more capacity to absorb knowledge if he s/he is a person of character.
Imam Ali (a) said, ‘O Believer! This knowledge and good manners are the value of your soul so strive to learn them, for however much your knowledge and good manners increase, so will your value and worth accordingly.’[Mishkat al-Anwar, p. 135]
The Prophet (s) said, ‘Good manners are the beauty of the mind.’[Bihar al-Anwar, v. 77, p. 131, no. 41]

The Arabic term “ilm” does not have any alternative word in the English language. It has such a vast meaning that no word can carry its complete essence. Collecting information, reflecting upon it, getting new results, and practicing it so much that it becomes a part of you. This is what ilm means in its truest sense. And reaching this stage is literally impossible without good manners. It polishes your intellect like a refined, polished diamond, unlike the other stones.

Imam Ali (a) said, ‘He whose good manners surpass his reason is like a shepherd among numerous sheep.’[Ibid. no. 8886]
Imam al-Hasan (a) said, ‘A man devoid of reason cannot have good manners.’[Bihar al-Anwar, v. 78, p. 111, no. 6]
When one transforms into a diamond, s/he is the ultimate form of beauty, needless to any external adornment.
Imam Ali (a) said, ‘There is no adornment like good manners.’[Ghurar al-Hikam, no. 10466]
Imam Ali (a) said, ‘Good manners are your beauty.’[Nahj al-Sa’ada, v. 2, no. 50]

WRONG(ED) SUFIS

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم   WRONG(ED) SUFIS You were looking for something you didn't even know you were looking for. For a known answer to an unknown question. The question introduced itself to you disguised as the answer. The answer that was all along with you not seeing what the question is. Sometimes finding the question to an answer is far more bewildering than finding the answer to a question.  Then one day you look in the mirror and find all the questions to all the answers and all the answers to all the questions. When you witness your mystified reflection in a pair of mystifying eyes, you travel from the depths of oceans to the heights of skies to fathom one simple yet hard to grasp truth.  There is no mystery, nor is there a mystique. Crystal in You Realizing something mysterious like this, your heart flutters with joy of knowing, whirls with the winds, swirls with the waves, sways with the fires, celebrates his existence among the stars, and dances and eterna...

The war has begun

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم THE WAR HAS BEGUN Whenever unwanted, pure blood is dropped unto the land, it sparks a revolution within its inmates. This Sunday right after I woke up and checked my Instagram newsfeed, something made me wonder. In the world of some good for nothing, useless star kids, how come a post about a real artist is showing up... but as always, the caption remained ignored. Seeing his face out of nowhere on social media, I should've taken a hint from the death of a legend in the recent past about what the caption ought to be. Because no matter how brilliant you are, if you are not 'allowed' to fit in, you shall go unnoticed, unless you're dead. After dedicating his demise an ocean of misery, its depth gave me clarity instead of drowning me, and its salt gave me a purpose rather than poisoning me. I decided to explain the world how suicide is prohibited ( haraam ) and how is he going to hell for choosing death over life (if he actually did). # J...
